Two games were played today: WL-AO (King's Gambit) Result: 0-1.
                                                 AO-WL (Ruy Lopez) Result: 1-0.

54: Flashback: Inaugural Veteran Chess Championship

Seventeen years ago, the Inaugural Veteran Chess Championship was held in Serangoon Gardens Country Club. And it was no surprise that Prof Lim Kok Ann was crowned champion of the tournament.
I too participated but managed only to secure a 6th position out of 16 competitors. (Me: bottom left corner of group foto)

Andrew Wee played his inaugural chess game with AO who then played with WL.

Today's game was played erratically by both players.

The game was abandoned at GYM closing time.

51: Chess with Pardo: 30 Apr 2012

AO asked Pardo, "Do you play chess?" And when the answer was affirmative, AO lost no time in bringing out the chess set. And so they played 3 games.
This was the result: AO vs Pardo: 1-0, 1-0, 0-1.

Woo arrived @ 10 am as agreed, and the battle was on.

Woo played White with the QP opening and won the game.

Ong then played QP opening as White. He also won the game.

The pair decided on a drawn match and proceeded to Shunfu FC for lunch.

Both were satisfied with the outcome and will play again next month.

The WL-AO game resulted in 1-0 after WL had the better position in the end game, thus forcing AO to upturn his King.
